Paris: From 28 October through 1 November 2016, the Salon du Chocolat will be back at Porte de Versailles

From 28 October through 1 November 2016, the Salon du Chocolat will be back for its 22nd edition.

Some 500 participants from France and abroad will gather on a 20,000 sqm exhibition space: chocolatiers, pastry makers, confectioners and cocoa-producing countries, along with the greatest chefs, pastry chefs, designers and experts who will treat you with chocolate recipes, workshops, conferences and many other activities.

Throughout 5 days, the Salon du Chocolat welcomes all chocolate lovers to know more about the universe of cocoa, meet iconic chocolate brands and the best French and international artisans.   A unique programme of fun and delicious activities awaits visitors: recipes demonstrations by the greatest chefs and pastry chefs, conferences, live performances by cocoa-producing countries, pastry workshops, book signings, workshops for childre, exhibitions, ... and last but not least the famous Chocolate Fashion Show.

Demonstrations of chocolate recipes by world-famous chefs

The greatest French and international chefs, pastry chefs, master chocolatiers and young talents follow one another in the Pastry Show demonstration area to present their best chocolate recipes. Come experience and savor the techniques, skill, magic, and indulgent treats live!  A highlight of Friday, 28th October will be the prestigious Relais Desserts Charles Proust Competition that gives young pastry chefs from all over the world an opportunity to show off their talent in public and under the experienced eyes of the great pastry chefs.


Cocoa Show: live performances

The Lands of Cocoa reveal their secrets at the Cacao Show space through dance, songs, music and rituals from cocoa-producing countries ... in a festive and chocolaty musical entertainment! A delight for children and aduts alike.

Experience Japan

You will discover the secrets of the iconic products of the japanese gastronomy thanks to this brand new area dedicated to Japan. In small groups of 12 to 13, you will will be shown unusual combinations to demonstrate the many ways in which these products can be used with chocolate. Every day from 2pm to 3pm with Suntory Whisky: “A combination of chocolate and Japanese whisky” with pastry chef Sadaharu Aoki and Yuko Nonaka, Brand Ambassador for Suntory Whisky in France. Since 1923, Suntory has embodied the harmony that exists in Japan between nature and man. The result of the work of the company’s leading artisans, the three Suntory whiskies – Yamazaki, Hakushu and Hibiki – reveal subtle, refined, complex flavours.

Another unexpected combination, every day from 4pm to 5pm: Poissonnerie Shinichi, a genuine Japanese fishmonger’s in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, will be surprising taste buds with its “cocoa-flavoured sushi”. Tokyo Chocolate, already present on stand C2, will be presenting a previously unknown combination of chocolate in different forms and 3 brands of sake, including the winning brand at the 2016 International Wine Challenge, Dewazakura Sake Brewery Co. Ltd.
Meiji will be offering tastings of its chocolates (also on stand C30) and combining them with the flavours of matcha tea, an essential part of Japanese gastronomy. Yuzu will also be highlighted through demonstrations and tastings proposed by Tokushima Yuzu (stand A33). These original, unusual creations will be enhanced by products made by the prestigious Japanese foundry company Nousaku, which will be providing the chefs with its pewter tableware sets.

The Chocolate Fashion Show

15 duos of talented chocolatiers and fashion designers create an exceptional collection chocolate dresses every year. These stunning couture outfits made and inspired by chocolate will be presented during the Gala Evening (on October 27) and every day at 5:00pm from October 28 through November 1.
