Lipsi (Leipsoi) is an island south of Samos and to the north of Leros in Greece. It is well serviced with ferries passing between Patmos and Leros and on the main route for ferries from Piraeus. Leipsoi is a small group of islets at the northern part of the Dodecanese near to Patmos island and Leros. The larger Leipsi-Arkoi archipelago consists of some 37 islands and islets of which only three are larger than 1 square kilometre (247 acres): Leipsoi (15.95 square kilometres (6.16 sq mi)), Arkoi (6.7 square kilometres (2.59 sq mi), part of Patmos municipality) and Agreloussa (1.32 square kilometres (0.51 sq mi), part of Patmos municipality). Only Leipsoi, Arkoi and Marathos are inhabited. Leipsoi is a municipality, part of the Kalymnos regional unit, which is part of the South Aegean region. The municipality has an area of 17.350 square kilometres (6.699 sq mi).
It is 173.2 nm from Piraeus and has 790 inhabitants (2011). The main island, the main island from which comes the name of this cluster is located between Patmos (10.2 nm east) and Leros (8 miles north) and a little east of the imaginary line that the It connects to the north Dodecanese.
Lipsi produces products, namely thyme honey (produced the traditional way), wine, cheese, dairy products (touloumotyri cheese, the local version of mizithra) and grapes. Also loom-woven fabrics, carpets and “fookadia” (cloth pouches used to strain cheese).
In the group of these small islands total area of 17 350 km² including islands: Arefousa, Manolis Islands, Grand Aspronisi, Long Aspronisi, Small Aspronisi, Quilt, Kouloura A Kouloura D South Aspronisi A South Aspronisi D Kalapodi Large, Small last, Lyra, cross, Pilavi, Psomou, Kaparonisi, Plate, Makronisi, Frank, Woodworm.
The surface of the main island Lipsi is 15.8 km², with a coastline from 36 km. The land consists of low hills (maximum height is the Boats with 277 m., followed by the plate with 200 m. height in the NW part of it) and small valleys. There are also coves (Fontana, Muscat, shipyard, beaches (Liendou, Platis Gialos, Katsadia, Tourkomnima, Chochlakoura) and rocky headlands (Gato, Monodendri, Glarokavos).
Points Of Interest
There are several churches and monasteries scattered around the island dedicated to a multitude of saints. These include the church of Aghios Nektarios, built in or about 1980 by father Nikiforos, the parochial priest of Lipsi at the time and a favorite baptistry for the inhabitants of the island.

How do we go to Lipsi
Access to Lipsi is possible from Piraeus once a week. But the rest of the days will not make it hard for you to reach the island as there is a daily connection with local ships and two catamarans of Dodekanisos Seaways with the neighboring islands, Patmos, Leros and Kalymnos, which are accessible by airplane and ship from Athens and Piraeus. Everyday is also the connection with the largest islands of the Dodecanese, Kos and Rhodes.
